1.1. Documents
Neither Chile nor Argentina or Brazil ask for a Visum. In case of doubts,
please inform yourself at the consulate in charge.
1.2. Vaccination
Chile and Argentina do not ask for special vaccination. It would be could
though, to be protected against Tetanus.
1.3. Money
In Argentina as in Chile you can pay with $ US. Credit cards are widely
accepted, to pay and draw money with. More difficult is cashing traveler-checks. They mostly get accepted, but the exchange rate is not very good
usually.
For Falklands it's best to take English pounds along which are accepted..
Buying pounds on Falklands is about 30% more expensive.
Since we mostly anchor in remote places, you won't " need" a lot of
money to spend.
1.4. Luggage
Storage room on the boat is limited, please use a backpack or a foldable
bag to travel with. Each cabin provides a locker big enough to store clothes
and cameras, so you don't have to keep your belongings in a suitcase.
1.5. Health
The medicin cabinet on Board contains medication for first aid and more
serious cases. We ask you though, to bring your personal medication along,
which you would take in case of a flu, upset stomachs, headaches, seasickness.
Against seasickness, there is a variety of medication available. Please ask
your pharmacist.
Even if the sun is not always out, please take sunblock-lotion for skin and
lips along as well as sunglasses.
1.6. Electricity
On board we have 12 and 24 volts. In port or with the generator on board
running there is a 220 v supply as well.
1.7. Music/Books
We are quite well equipped with tapes, CD's and literature about sailing
regions and entertainment, but it would be nice if you brought some of your
music and books along.
2.1 ANTARCTICA & CAPE HORN & GLACIERS
Getting to/from Ushuaia Argentina:
You fly to Buenos Aires and than continue from there to Ushuaia. In Buenos
Aires you have to change from the international to the national airport either
by taxi or bus. The transfer takes about one hour (with some Airlines the
price for the transfer is included).
In the trip price everything is included, from the minute you step on board,
till you get off the boat again.( everything means: all yachtcosts, food,
beverages, linens, towels, use of dinghy, offshore sailingsuits, use of kajak,
snowshoes etc.)
Please bring along:
Warm sleepingbag, hiking boots, equipment for trekking, rubber boots, some $
US, in case you wish to buy souvenirs, etc.
2.2 SOUTH-GEORGIA & FALKLANDS
Getting to/from Mount Pleasant Falklands
Either over Santiago de Chile with Lan Chile or over England. From
England you fly with an army plane. ( minimum 4 maximum 7 passengers)
From Mount Pleasant Airport into Stanley are buses and taxis available.
Meeting Point for the trip is on the yacht at the jetty of Stanley
towncentre.
In the trip price everything is included, from the minute you step on
board, till you get off the boat again.( everything means: all
yachtcosts, food, beverages, linens, towels, use of dinghy, offshore
sailingsuits, use of kajak, snowshoes etc.)
Please bring along:
Warm sleepingbag, hiking boots, equipment for trekking, rubber boots,
some English Pounds/$-US, in case you wish to buy souvenirs, etc.
2.3 BRAZIL
Vitoria: You fly to Rio de Janeiro and continue from there to Vitoria
1. Visa
For Brazil you don't need a visa. Entering the country you get a three month tourist visa
2. Currency
Since 1995 the Brasilien Real is linked to the US$ .Since then the value of the real dropped around 30% though.
It's difficult to find a bank which accepts traveler checks.
If you have a Visa or Mastercard drawing money from cashmachines is possible.
3. Clothing
Although you mostly need summer clothes, a jacket, sweater and a pair of jeans is recommended for cooler evenings.
